Work Related Learning Pathway
Students from Glan-Y-Mor school in Llanelli have been putting their engineering skills to the test by designing new and innovative can crushers. The WRLP is one of only two pilots in Wales in which schools colleges and industry come together to give pupils a chance to develop their skills for a career in engineering.
Coleg Sir Gar is running the pilot scheme in partnership with Glan-Y-Mor School in South Wales. Corus was approached as a local industry partner as it has a commitment to provide the local community with training opportunities.
Adam Twells, the Section Leader of Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at Coleg Sir Gar comments 'This new programme offers tremendous opportunities to school pupils, it is a chance for them to experience engineering industry career opportunities and help prepare them for the real world. Hopefully we can expand the programme with other schools to offer more students the chance to explore engineering in a workplace environment.
